Sojourning Heart

She opened my chest like a birth canal and bore my heart.
One kiss, and it came alive. Drawn to her breast, nourished by her, and made strong. Nurtured and taught the ways of the world...
Then set free.
It roamed about, over hill and dale, loving and laughing.
Then came the big hurt.
The one that broke it, and it became sad.
It cried out in its pain, but none could hear.
So it quieted, and left.
Now it's lost and alone without love.
Soon it will die.
Broken, sad, despondent.
