Just Listening

Everyone says everything's going to be alright
But I know it won't be
Because things aren't right when people I know cut themselves
So don't try and say everything's going to be alright
It's not alright when I cry for my friends
Because I see all their lives turning into nothing
And it's not alright when they cut themselves to no end
It makes me sad because I used to do it once myself
But instead of stopping them
All I can do is sit and watch as they slowly kill themselves
It makes me cry just seeing the marks on their bodies
And it kills me to hear the story behind it all
But I guess I live to serve
So all I can do is step back and watch as they die
Because apparently my words mean nothing to them
So don't tell me everything is going to be alright
When I know that my friends are going to die in front of my eyes.
