Behind Bars

Locked in a cage
Everything seen behind bars
Infested with disease
All the visitors on the other side
Reached out to grab a hand
But all is out of reach
Tears streamed out of the eyes
And small whining noises coming from the throat
Every image is seen behind bars
Including another cage across from the other
Locked in a cage
Looking up with pleading eyes wanting to be free
Seeing the same thing day after day
Wishing for a new face to be shown
There's no escape
Trapped behind bars
Wondering what went wrong
Abandoned by family
Hoping to be exonerated.
