Summer Rain

The clouds hung lightly on the trees near the bluff
The leaves were white with its fuzz
The rain has passed and now it is cool
The sky is lighter than it was

Droplets cling to the upturned leaves
They are grateful for the drink
Fresh and clean from a late summer shower
Lilies sway as the Black-eyed Susans wink

Given a break for just a brief time
From the heat and the glaring sun
Birds sing as they splash in the puddles
Oh, they're having so much fun

The storm is gone, the clouds move out
The sun shines so far above
All is well, new life begins
Because of God's plan of love.
